In March, the Board of the Fundació TicSalut approved the Strategic Plan 2013-2017. This is a roadmap intended to enable the body to become an agent facilitating the transformation of the health and social assistance model by means of ICT in Catalonia, and was also designed to achieve the ICT and objectives of the Health Department’s Health Plan 2011-2015. The Strategic Plan and Report 2012 of the foundation can now be consulted in an on-line publication from computers and mobile devices.

Dr. Gabriel Capellà is the new person responsible for Research and Innovation in Health of the Health Department. In the last four years, he has been scientific director of the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (Institut d’Investigació Biomèdica de Bellvitge - IDIBELL). Trained as a general and digestive surgeon in the Hospital de Sant Pau, his interest in translational research of cancer led him to do a post doctorate with Dr. Manuel Perucho in the Californian Biological Research Institute in the United States. On his return, he joined the Gastrointestinal Research Laboratory of the Hospital de Sant Pau and later the Catalan Oncology Institute, where he is now Director of the Hereditary Cancer Program.
