TicSalut and the Business Advisory Council join forces to promote technology in the social and healthcare sector

TicSalut starts a new year with the challenge of achieving the goals it set in its strategic lines 2013-2017. In this line of work, a summer session was held in July with 51 companies of its Business Advisory Council (CAE). The session presented the results of a study made to get a better view of the characteristics forming part of the CAE, which is made up of 123 leading companies in the sector. The session closed with the talk Compartim (“Let’s share”), by Mr. Joan Elias, with whom we have talked in this issue of FlashTicSalut.

Catalonia in the front line in preventing dependency with the FATE project

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya has designed a device that detects elderly patients falling and automatically activates the 061 CatSalut Respon protocol. This is a highly sensitive sensor that is being tried out on people living alone and which has been created as part of the European FATE project in which Fundació TicSalut plays a part, the Hospital Clínic and the EAP Sardenya in Barcelona.

How do doctors and patients relate through mHealth?

Canada Health Infoway, the entity that ensures the transformation of health in Canada, has brought out a White Book around the effective use of mobile devices in giving healthcare, and more specifically on the relationship between the doctor and the patients. The document shows the state of the question of mHealth in Canada and also calls on health organisations in the country to take a step further with a call to action.

Manel Domingo, new technical director of the HL7 Spain

A technical engineer in Management Informatics, certified in HL7 v2.6 and specialised in information standards and environments of integration aimed at health, Manel Domingo is part of TecnoCampus Mataró-Maresme Integration Skills Centre (CCI-TCM), along with the technical team of the TicSalut Office of Standards and Interoperability. From now on he will combine his work with the technical management of the Spanish branch of HL7 International.
