Workshop of Integrated Health and Social Care: A necessary model of efficiency

On November 13 the first meeting of Integrated Healthcare was held as part of the CASA European project in which the objectives and progress in integrated care were reflected, experiences were collected in social healthcare integration in different areas of Europe, and the possibilities offered by ICTs for a model of integrated care were explored. Professionals from the health and social spheres attended the event to share their knowledge, give ideas, and to work together for an integrated system.

Horizon 2020: An opportunity to innovate in health and social care

The Fundació TicSalut on 21 November organised the second day dedicated to Horizon 2020, aiming to guide and give the necessary tools to Catalan organizations wishing to participate in a call. The European Commission with the Horizon 2020 Research Innovation program has created an investment platform with nearly 80,000 million euros to be divided among different areas of the healthcare sector between 2014 and 2020. The day was divided into sections that sought to facilitate the application process, create networking, and to learn from teams whose proposals have been accepted.

A PwC report defines the key points of the current situation and reveals the preferences of US consumers through a survey and presents the challenges of the future. The answers allow the organization to discover that despite the curiosity that users feel for such devices, there is still a long way to go for wearables to become an efficient health system device and a standard technology for daily use.

Over two years ago, the Liquid Hospital project of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu was started up. A play on words between Health 2.0 and water hospital framing a series of actions for integrated social and healthcare, non-face-to-face care and telemedicine, amongst others, seeping out of the walls of the hospital and reaching a patient there where they need it, when they need it.
