During the Meeting of the Map of Tendencies in ICTs and Health held on December 18 the results of the ICT survey were presented for the ninth year running within the frame of the Catalan health centres, the Health APP Portal and the Digital Health Platform, among other subjects.
Meritxell Davins, doctor at the Vascular Surgery Unit of the Maresme Health Consortium, has presented a doctoral thesis in which she uses ICTs to improve the quality of life in patients with intermittent claudication. The thesis, graded Excellent Cum Laude, is aimed at determining the benefits of educating patients so that they become “expert patients”.
The Psychology and Psychiatry Service of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu has implemented the Interactive Waiting Room during the opening of the new mental health outpatient clinics. Patients and families will be able to obtain useful information and advice about health problems, information about the Hospital and the Psychology and Psychiatry Service through the QR codes available in the waiting room. With the growing popularity of intelligent mobile phones, smartphones, QR code reading has become simple, since you only need to scan the code centring it on the screen of your display. In less than a minute, patients and families can access the information.

Standards and Interoperability
In December’s FlashTicSalut newsletter we mentioned the presentation of the Clinical Dictionary for iHealth at the 7th meeting of the RELACSIS network (Meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean Network for the Strengthening of Information Systems) in San José (Costa Rica). Fundació TicSalut, represented by the Office of Standards and Interoperability, took part in the meeting with a poster about the Clinical Dictionary for iHealth. Now that 2015 is out, it is a good time to analyse which updates have been implemented and which are the next projects for 2016.
