What is Horizon 2020 and how can the opportunity be taken to innovate in the health and social areas?

Horizon 2020 is the new Framework Research and Innovation Programme of the European Union, with a funding budget of virtually 80,000 million euros over the coming seven years. In fact, at the end of last year, the European Commission published the first call for projects for the period from 2014 to 2015. In order to help the Catalan health and social organisations to take part, Fundació TicSalut, with the support of the Connect-EU Group of Medical Technologies and ACCIO, organised a meeting on 7 February at which the tools existing in the programme were identified and work synergies were created.

The ICT and Health Chair is born out of an agreement between the University of Vic and the Fundació TicSalut

In order to establish bonds of knowledge with the Catalan faculties to develop, deepen and disseminate the use of ICTs in the social healthcare sector, the Fundació TicSalut has signed a collaboration agreement with the University of Vic. As a result of this agreement, the ICT and Health Chair has been created and will be run by the director of the foundation.

Midwife and teacher at the Barcelona University School of Nursing

Dr. Glòria Seguranyes

With over thirty years of experience in teaching midwives and nurses, Dr. Glòria Seguranyes is now involved in innovative projects for clinical practice and teaching, such as the incorporation of ICTs in healing in the midwifery consultation in Primary Attention. In fact in some ASSIR of the Catalan Health Institute, telematic care has already been promoted in a project that is gradually spreading to the whole of Catalonia and which in the city of Barcelona has been awarded the BSalut-Chiesi in Health Management 2012 award.
